Roulettebent (Open 9/12)

Covered in neutral colours with no hint of their caste, Posydn wears a formal uniform-like outfit at all times. Zir tunic goes from the shoulders right down to the knees, half covering the calf-length pantaloons worn underneath. Ze wears firm, semi-formal boots that fold up over zir ankles. Clasped on under zir pauldrons is a regal cape, appropriate for any troll sporting facial fins. As well as pauldrons, Posydn wears a breast- and back-plate and gauntlets.

Posydn wears zir hair styled up, obstainably out of habit from living in the relatively gravity-less ocean. In truth it is to make sure nothing hides zir facial fins. Zir eyes are hidden, though, by a helm-like visor that matches the rest of zir armour. There are slats to allow for ample vision, not to mention cybernetic enhancements within, but the slats are designed so as to cast zir face in considerable shadows. Nonetheless trolls that get close enough report a violet or almost tyrian tint were zir eyes would be. More worringly some truely daring trolls report that the tint is rather too bright to be any typical shade of violet or tyrian...

Ze typically has a poker face, helped by the eye-obscuring visor. Posydn's expressions are carefully controlled and there's often a delay in feeling or realising something and actually displaying an expression. Zir horns are also exceptionally small for zir age - this is due to zir mutation, not that anyone knows that.

Ze was a late-bloomer. Ze emerged, victorious, from the brooding caverns just barely a grub any more. Already zir body was urging for ze to pupate into a wiggler. How ze survived zir pupation without a lusus naturae is unknown, though choosing an obscure outcrop that dangled over the ocean might've had something to do with it. However it happened, ze was waking with a cold splash in the vast Alternian ocean not long after emerging from the caverns.

Ze never built a hive of zir own - no building drones where ever sent to zir to do so. Ze found the hive of a long dead troll and made it into zir own hive instead. It was a hard wigglerhood, growing up in solitude. The internet was a great escape and an excellent way to make connections. It only took one violent scolding for ze to learn about hemotyping and ze dutifully set zir text to always type bright magenta. Which was how ze found out that there was something very, very wrong with zir. With zir bright text others said ze was doing it wrong. That ze was just a dumb wiggler who didn't even know zir own blood. Many trolls invited zir to cut zirself open and get a good look. They said that blood that bright didn't belong on the hemospectrum at all. And when ze desperately researched to try prove them wrong zir worst nightmare was confirmed - they were right. Ze had no caste and no place on the hemospectrum.

Zir life took a very sharp turn from there. Ze planned how ze could remain a hermit for as many sweeps as possible - zir aspirations of FLAPRing died a horrible death and ze tried to fill zir life with as many solo and indoor hobbies as possible to fill the suddenly gaping void in zir life. Ze abandoned everything connected with the old bright colour and ze filled through swatches of ink until ze found zir mutant shade dulled down enough to conceivably be on the hemospectrum. The Barossa shade was not zir true blood colour, but at least it was believably part of the Violet caste.

It was a sad and tiring life, but zir plan worked for the most part. Ze boarded up zir hive and either hunted or had food airdropped in. No one was allowed in and no one was allowed to see zir face. When ze figured out zir skin could be made more resistant to being cut by developing calluses, ze trained to cover as much skin as possible with them. Ze remained in contact with the outside world only thanks to zir husktop. From that screen ze learnt many things. How troll society tended to work, the assumptions people made about castes. That everyone but zir had a symbol to wear proudly on their shirts. But most intriguingly that the highest of castes, the violets and tyrians, were born royal and born better than every other troll. And every single one of them was a seadweller. No other caste was - just the royal trolls.

And so for once in zir life, things were looking up. Because ze too was a seadweller.

It took some time, but around zir sixth sweep ze started to emerge from total hiding. Ze gave zirself a dramatic haircut, upsweeping zir hair and trimming it around the nape so that zir fins couldn't be missed. They were zir ticket to a 'normal' life. Ze began to make acquaintences in the violet and highblood castes, learning how to pass zirself off as a seadweller troll. Ze never grew comfortable with lying fluently how the highbloods seemed to but ze did learn the valuable art of how to ommitt dangerous facts. Ze grew confident enough to even start branching out and meeting trolls from castes lower than blue.

And just when it was getting good it all went to shit again. Of course ze was now approaching the age where every troll knows they need to start doing their pailing duty. Their life literally depends on getting pailed. Twice. The problem wasn't that ze would have a huge difficultly actually getting a flush or a calignious lover - ze was kind enough for flush romance and had strong morals to oppose for calignious romance. The problem was the actual pailing which, horrifically enough, revealed zir blood colour. Ze isn't sure what ze will do when push comes to shove and the Pail Drones come, but ze suspects it's not going to be kind.
