So i don't think it's a secret to anybody right now that Hivestuck as it is right now is a work in progress. We're still learning how to crawl here, so if anybody has any ideas that might help with that goal, this is where you past them.
What this thread is is a site for ideas and discussion on said ideas, if an idea receives enough support or backing, it may even be implemented, you never know. Our primary goal here is improvement. We want to attract new people to our boards, and become more active around the various threads, if you think you can help with that, by all means let us know here.

With all of that said, I’ve been juggling a few ideas of my own around that i think might help us in the long run. Lets see what you guys think about it.
First off, i would like to propose the “Invited Member Initiative” as i call it.
Basically what this would be is an incentive to newer members to join, and for current members to seek out new ones. How this would work is that if you invite a friend, and they make X amount of in-character posts on the website within lets saaay... two or three months, You and your friend will both receive some art of one character of your choice from a volunteer artist (Artist volunteers would be required before implementing this) as a reward. I feel that this will sort of give newbies a reason to stick around, and if they stick around long enough, they might think “hey, this is a pretty cool place, think i'll keep at it” And stick around even after passing their minimum.
What exactly the post number would be I’m not so sure about, thirty, one hundred, one fifty, i don't know. But it would probably need to be with at least three different individuals so the new person can't just talk with whoever invited them for the sake of getting some free art.
What are your thoughts on this?
A second idea of mine is a ”Civil Discussion Thread” To be put here in the debate lounge most likely.
We all know it, there are some /Big/ issues that need to be talked about sometimes. But we can't or just DON'T talk about them in the Skype chat because people are getting upset, the topic changes before you can finish your post, or people are constantly interrupting you. It makes it hard for things that NEED to be talked about to be resolved, and as such we tend to stagnate as we hope problems will fix themselves.
This thread would be heavily moderated by myself as discussions occur. Only calm, and civil discussion would be tolerated, any hint of anger from any party will result in the entire post in which the anger has been posted being wiped clean. You shall receive a single warning upon your first offence, any further signs of anger shall be given no such luxury. As i know i myself can get angry from time to time, i volunteer to have a trusted mod or Admin observe my own posts for smiler bits of anger that my mind may be too clouded to notice at the time, Wycca or Yani i believe may be able to do this.
As Anger would not be tolerated, one would need to think carefully about what they say, caps-lock tends to give off the impression of being angry, and as such one might wish to avoid it. Bold may make for a better alternative when you wish to emphasize certain facts or thoughts above others. What is important here is that everyone retains a clear head and a calm attitude, if you cannot deal with what is being discussed, nobody would be making you read it.
Your thoughts on this?

Well, if I may offer my two cents:
I do like the idea of an Invited Member Initiative, and I did muse about wanting to implement some sort of incentive to attract new members before, similar to referral points in games like League of Legends, but I wasn't sure how it could be done. Art is a good idea, but there also is the matter that some of our artists might not have the time or interest to do something when the time comes. I'm not saying that having art done is a bad idea by any means, and it is a good start to think about, but I'm also curious if anyone might have any other ideas. If we can't think of anything better than art, though, that's a perfectly fine way to do things.
As for the Civil Discussion Thread, I do think it's a good idea, especially when not everyone involved in these matters is in the Skype chat we usually handle things in, and that has had an impact in the repercussions of these issues in the past. My only suggestion is that I'd make it more clear that it's for Hivestuck-related discussion, since "Civil Discussion Thread" could be taken in other ways. Perhaps just "Hivestuck Issues Civil Discussion" or something? Also, while I do think that it is a VERY good idea to keep anger to a minimum, I don't think that it's appropriate to permaban people from the entire forum for breaking the rules of a single thread. I think the proper punishment for recurring offenses should be to be either tempbanned until the issue is resolved or to be banned from the thread. Assuming, of course, you didn't have that in mind already.
I may also add that this is a great idea for a thread! I've had my own ideas for the forum in the past, and this looks like a good way to get feedback on them. I may raise my own ideas here in the future.

Oh no no no there would be no banning involved with the whole anger thing. Merely the post that contained any trace of anger would be deleted as punishment, removing anything that person had to say from the table. They could still say something afterwords, however their previous post would be either gone or empty.

I would like the "new" button to have a larger "hit box" if you know what I mean.

The ability to view your sent PMs, if it's possible. My PC freaks out often, especially mid-PM, so a way to make sure I sent it would be great.
If there already is one, please direct me to it. I tend to over look things.

Scratch that last statement I found the little varmint named "outbox".
I also agree with Reboam's statement.

I'm a tad hesitant with the “Invited Member Initiative”.
Although I wouldn't care to one of those said artists....

The invite member initiative reminds me of a tame pyramid scheme. You can't keep it up forever, and if you do stop then some late recruits might feel jipped. Worse, it might be seen as obnoxious or desperate. Plus, I don't think it's enough to get members to stick in the long term. If you do the invite member initiative, you'll still need to do work to keep new members. Other websites do something similar to your invite member initiative, so it's probably better than I'm making it sound. Still, I think the best solution would be good RPs, and maybe more concentrated specialization. From what I understand, Hivestuck is supposed to be a troll-specialized Homestuck forum. People might consider going out of their way to make a Hivestuck account if they're looking specifically for troll games. I don't think people on mspaforums like the idea of splintering the fanbase into several fundamentally identical forums anyway. At the very least, they'd probably appreciate if Hivestuck covered a niche that they don't want to specialize in. Then again, this won't work if people don't want troll games. I myself don't like troll games, and I probably wouldn't have stayed if troll games were more emphasized.
