Solar station Zero Zero One is the first ever Alternian space station designed to orbit a non-Alternia planet, that meaning that rather then Alternia, Solar station 001 instead orbits Gtuhanai, the second-largest gas giant in the Alternian solar system. Gthuanai sports two separate rings, the innermost holding an Equatorial orbit around it's midsection moving from west to east, and the outer ring orbiting on a more polar angle from south to north. It is rare for debris from either ring to collide with that from the other, though it has occurred on several occasions over the millennia As it is now however, Gtuhanai and it's innermost ring are both much smaller then their original size, minerals and rocks from both having been mined out by the crew of solar station 001 for repurpousing as fuel, energy production, and interstellar ship manufacturing, among several other miscellaneous purposes. Since the introduction of Solar Station 001 several thousand sweeps ago, the planet has shrunk an approximate fifteen percent of it's original size, it's innermost ring shrinking down about twenty five percent.
Solar station 001 itself is a large orbital platform wedged just underneath the planet's innermost ring in a formerly low orbit. The station is divided into five primary subsections housing different facilities and employment opportunities depending on it's location on the station, it is advised that any who arrive on the station either for permanent residence or temporary shore-leave memorize the station’s layout to prevent future incident.
Section one:
The Station’s “upper” section, facing away from the planet, and typically blocked from planetary view by the two lower sections. Section one is devoted to the collection of two primary resources, Solar energy, and the minerals gathered in the lower ring of the planet. For these purposes the section houses several large solar collectors and a wide assortment of extendable arms, cables, pipes, and other collection equipments. In the centre of the large domed section sits an empty docking port facing away from the planet, it was installed for the purposes of future plans for a “Section Zero” subsection, which would be aimed at collecting the minerals of the upper ring once the lower ring has been fully mined out.
Section two:
Wedged between Sections one and three, Section two is the station’s second-largest section, and houses a vast majority of the station’s recreational and inter-station environment units, including but not limited to various shopping centres and restaurants, holographic fantasy chambers, two swimming pools, one built exclusively for seadwellers only, several bio-spheres replicating an assortment of Alternian environments to house and comfort most Lusi of acceptable size, a gambling ring, clubs, and other such miscellaneous attractions. Section two is primarily used to keep crewmen on temporary visit or shore-leave happy and out of trouble, and is primarily staffed by the more permanent residents located in section Three. While ships typically dock in section four, there are a few airlocks and docking ports on section two available for shuttles housing no other purpose then to visit section two, and for acceptable emergencies.
Section three:
The middle-most of the station, wedged between the station’s two largest sections. Section three is the primary residence chamber, housing a large assortment of private quarters and utilities ranging from public to private depending on caste. The lowest bloods are given small, but comfortable quarters on the “lowest” section of the ship closest to the planet, with progressively higher bloods getting larger and more luxurious quarters as one goes up the floors, with the topmost floor housing ten mostly-aquatic suites for seadwellers, a small section of the quarters being above-water for whatever reasons the royal deems necessary. Bloods of green and above will have access to private kitchens and showers, those below green will be required to use public mess halls and showers due to the requirement of squeezing so many private chambers into the appropriate area. All private quarters house private toilets and recreational computers and TV's. Blues and above also have access to small private gyms for exercise, those below will have access to the public fitness centres located on the greenblood floors.
Section four:
The largest section of Solar Station 001. Section four is used exclusively for the construction and docking of interstellar spacecraft, housing a large assortment of docking ports for repairs and refuelling, and four large pressurized chambers that take up the majority of it's body for the construction or major repair of ships of up to medium carrier size.
Section five:
The final section, and that closest to the planet Gtuhanai. The main body of this section is approximately the same size as section one, however were the entire section to be collected into one large mass, it's overall size would vastly outmatch even that of section four. A grand majority of section five is a single long space-elevator reaching down into the atmosphere of Gtuhanai, it's multiply reinforced hulls and thick walls able to prevent the entire thing from snapping in twin as it utilizes the vacuum of space itself to draw up the very building blocks of the planet into the section's primary processing plant, a place of immense heat and pressure where particles of gas are sorted, separated, and reforged into various solids and gasses to be utilized either on the station itself or in the construction of it's many exports. Section five is the most vital and armoured section of the station, it is the very reason the station exists in the first place, and the station is the very reason a vast amount of the Alternian fleet exists.
The station itself is primarily powered by two sources. When the station is facing the sun, it is powered by the Solar collectors on section one. When the station is not facing the sun however, a circle of powerful psionics are utilized in a Psionic's chamber within the centre of section two, the Psionic's are typically rotated every week or so to prevent death and allow them time to recharge before the next night. Typically no psionic may be used again until the entire circle has had it's turn at least once.
A single “day” for the station lasts about four months, allowing for two months of solar collection and two months of Psionic powering. Meanwhile simulated Alternian days are in constant effect within the station, keeping the station on the general date of the homeworld.
