Do you currently play? Used to play? Considering learning? Let's talk.
I specialize in woodwinds, though not really by choice. We could only afford a flute when I was young, so that's what I got. Later on, I learned piccolo, but it still wasn't really what I wanted to play. I moved on from those to guitar, piano, ocarina, and I've finally arrived at violin. All I need is a teacher for the violin and I'm set to play again for the first time in about four years.
What about you guys?

i've always felt that i have a sort of untapped musical well somewhere in me, beause my dad plays guitar and was in a barbershop quartete once, both sisters learned piano, one still playing today, the other learned electric guitar, and i'm not sure about my mom. i tried sevral instruments and things, trombone, oeraina, thing is most of them were pretty obscure and hard to find music for, or they were very loud and just unplesent to hear or imposible to practice while my parrents were asleep, wich was when i was most often bored.
so i sort of feel like i SHOULD do something musical, however so far the most i've got is writing parody songs.

If you've got an instrument like an ocarina, you can actually use flute or violin sheet music, as those typically tend to be in the same general octave (or can be transposed up or down as necessary), so there's a little leeway for it.
Woodwinds in general are great for playing softly, as all you need to practice is the barest minimum of sound to make sure you're hitting the notes right. Personally, I never had to actually breathe into my flute to be able to tell if I was playing right when I'd practice at night. The air flowing around the room was all I needed; I'd put the mouthpiece up to my ear and play the notes and I could actually hear the notes as if I was playing them through the mouthpiece.
I don't have any experience with brass, but I imagine they'd be a problem, yeah. Sadly, that's something you have to learn in a special location (school band, music lessons, etc.).

Yah i do trombone, and it does kinda need to be in a band
If you could get a friend to do sax,between them, your trombone,and sister on piano, you could start a jazz band, maybe someone else on drum set
My recommendation would be no matter what you play get a teacher, otherwise there will be no real drive for you to practice

I've played guitar since I was a wee lad. (Around 8 years old.) Then during junior high I started playing trumpet as well untill I got braces.
Still Wish I could play trumpet more now that my braces are off. But realistically I'm way better at guitar and have played a few bar shows and such.

I've been playing flute for 4 years now. It's great in marching band because if you don't know the music, no one would hear you anyways.
I'm planning on getting my friend's electric violin fixed and learning how to play that, but for now I'll stick to learning to beatbox on my dear woodwind.

I love all brass instruments but I only play trumpet and french horn. I'm going to switch over to french horn fully next year and I'm super excited. I really want to learn string instruments like cello or idk a ukelele. I'd love to learn trombone though but I don't have the lips for it  |
