So I've always been curious, what are people's headcanons about trickster trolls?
Tricksters in general are a fav of mine, especially after the Trickster Arc. But I've never been able to decide on a rule for Trickster!Trolls.
So what are people's headcanons about Tricksters? How do they work, what do they mean, etcetc?
(Feel free to link to Dessert!trolls or other Trickster fanart).
And consider this thread a place for talking about Tricksters - human, troll, cherub or whatever - in general.

i'm actually not too sure myself, i kinda feel like their inclusion into the canon was kind of... meh... they were neat as little Easter-eggs in flash games and the like, but i'm not sure what to think of them as actual concepts. i can safely say i don't believe them to be part of the game in any way at least, as Jane and the other Alpha's only became tricksters through the power of a lollypop juju, which as far as we know, has no connection to the game itself, though this could easily be rectified should we ever learn about it's origin. As for Tricksters themselves, i always liked the mild implication that they were murderous serial killers and psychopaths with a sweet and surgery exterior, as evidenced quite brilliantly in These Two music videos. but i might just be a bit messed up

Well, it seems like the cherub homeworld was Tricksterized (the names of the continents and the weapons they produced seem to indicate that). Maybe Trickster Mode is the cherubs' original state, and the green skull-monster form is something relatively recent caused by lack of contact with their homeworld. The entire planet might be a juju similar to the spiral one, or spiral jujus might be pieces of the planet's crust. Evolving on a magic planet is also the only explanation I can think of for why the cherubs are the way they are.

Trickster Mode look to be basically what cherubs are/have to be when they socialise (beyond their sexual relationships, that is) - probably why the 'homeland' is all tricksterfied. (I'm so down for cherubs being healthily asocial, though trickster!cherubs being healthily social is pretty rad too).
The Easter Egg was cool but at least the canon inclusion gave us so much more info to work with for tricksters? (I mean, how did they even get called tricksters the first time around?)
I like to think it's not a thing that just spiral jujus /andor/ cherubs can induce but I totally agree that it's not a natural/normal part of SBURB's programming.
I like the headcanon that Trickster Mode is a cheat code for SBURB.

you know, the tricksters kinda remind me of the star in mario. they become invincible, colourful and carefree as they just burst through the place. perhaps its the game's invincibility mode?

I have a joke theory that the main characters will use Trickster mode to beat LE.

There's not too much, but there is more than may first appear.
The Alpha kids trickster designs all have vague themes, so there's that. There's also what we see them do while they're trickster (Jane's planet suddenly going colourful, the biggest, probably). The juju and cherub lore is also some stuff.
I guess I mean more 'headcanons' than 'theories' but they overlap somewhat.

From what i've seen at least, i could hazard a guess that what trickster mode does is break down any mental walls one might have, such as not doing something for the sake of not being embarrassed, filtering your own speech for profanities, and of course keeping one's libido in check and out of casual conversation. With these walls broken down, plus most likely a severe overproduction of Dopamine or some other "Happy" chemical, the end result is a bunch of gleeful tricksters with no personal ties, no acceptance of the word "no" and no REASON to say "no running around as an all but unstoppable force.
I’m not sure if anything i just said made any sense, but yeah. essentially from what I’ve seen it makes them perma-happy and makes them act out on all the tiniest thoughts they've ever had without thinking twice about it.

((Totally made sense, ING)).
Here's a headcanon/theory I have - trickster mode in humans always makes the subject white, no matter what race (or... if they're aracial) they actually are. Sadly I have no idea how this theory would translate to trolls. Aside from just making them all seadwellers or fuschia caste or something. Or maybe they're all fairies?

I personally hold to the theory that tricksters are basically an ultra-happy unstoppable force (like what ING said) but also are just the slightest bit off- in the way that one would look at them and immediately find them terrifying. I also like the idea of them resembling something like saccharine serial killers, however...

Yeah, people have a habit of associating Tricksters with sacchrine serial killers but, as cool as that idea is, we don't really see it?
Like, I can totally see the tricksters being murderous or gorey just because they don't understand that bodies have limits (kinda like Bipper in the sock Puppter episode, if anyone's seen Gravity Falls). But in the bounds of canon I don't really see them being maliciously murderous?

When I read through the Trickster Mode stuff, I saw it as the greatest sugar high there ever was. That's how they acted, hyper and impulsive, then the major crash after on the quest beds. The closest things we've seen in trolls is what Faygo does to them. I have a bottle of Faygo right here... 28g of sugar per serving (Grape), looking at the bottles Gamzee uses, I think they're the smaller 20oz size, which would put 2.5 servings in them. Some quick math and we get 70g of sugar. Now, that number's exact value is irrelevant, it just shows that Faygo has a shit load of sugar in it. As I see it, Trickster Mode for trolls would be the equivalent of drinking way too much Faygo. In parallel with this, they'd become lackadaisical and probably pass out like Terezi did when she was drinking Faygo, or if they were more resistant to it they might act Gamzee-ish, Trickster!Gamzee would... he'd be more Gamzee.
