The ocean breeze is perfect for kite flying and the sweet scent of the sea is always a plus. Watching the large, manta ray shaped kite float effortlessly in the dark sky. It was just a white figure on a twilight backdrop. Palser had almost forgotten he wasn't alone till he heard Reeius speak up. A frown creeping into the once tranquil features of his face.
"And that is where the pro~oblem lies. When o~one can live fo~or so~o lo~ong and watch tho~ose we kno~ow fade away is having so~o much time wo~orth it?"
A rather morbid thought and his tone just as straight forward. Idly speaking without much thought.
"So~ometimes I wo~onder if there was a way to~o share tho~ose sweeps with ano~other."

"Find highblood companions. Avoid thEE lowbloods." You say flatly, digging your fingers into the sand. You watch the kite dance on the breeze, and though you thought it was interesting before, your curiosity has been quenched. It no longer holds your interest as much as it had. The color of the contraption is a nice contrast against the sky, however.
"YEEt, thEEy arEE quitEE intEErEEsting," You muse, mostly to yourself, "Why avoid thEE intEErEEsting?" Your guard automatically rises once again. Highbloods tend to look down on the lower castes, and you're not sure how Palser will react to your words, if he heard them at all. It's likely that he had. It's not like you were speaking softly, and trolls have good hearing.

"Is it really that easy? I had no~o idea!~"
Palser chuckled, casting a quick glance at Reeius before looking back up at the sky. Unlike his fellow sea dweller he could never get enough of the smooth ruffling of the kite wings. Pulling on the string to drive it lower over the water. Unaware of the stirring under the inky black waves.
"Interesting is o~one way to~o put it. But I co~ouldn't quite do~o that. I actually much prefer the co~ompany o~of lo~ow blo~o~ods. They can be rather fun and can surprise yo~ou."
Shaking off the memory of that green blood out of his head. Lost cause there. Whether the other sea troll would agree or feel appalled it didn't seem to be a factor. After all, Palser figured, it was him and one other troll he may never see again. Who would really care? He was already ostracized, what was another of his caste shunning him?
And with Palser's attention suddenly pulled away for that split moment he couldn't react fast enough when a fin broke the calm clarity of the water. A fishy leviathan breaching the surface and catching his prized aerial device before vanishing back into the ocean.
"...Fffffff-"

A sly smile finds its way onto your face. It seems as though you have more in common with Palser than you initially believed. Your head nods slowly at his words, and when you reply, your voice is as smooth as your most treasured pearl. Which is very smooth, considering you polish it the moment you wake up, every single night. "I couldn't agrEEEE morEE. QuitEE honEEstly, I fEEEEl thEE samEE, EEvEEn though I HavEE yEET to mEEEEt any lowblood, my moirail not bEEEEing includEEd." She's not even really a lowblood. More of a high middleblood.
You pause your words as his kite dips dangerously low, nearly dipping into the waves. "ThEEy apEEar difficult to dirEEct." You state, idly fingering the smaller rocks in the sand.

"Go~o~od thing I pack spares."
There's a sad tone in Palser's voice as he muttered under his breath. And when he says spares he means a good dozen or so inventory. Perhaps from Reeius's point of view he couldn't see that his kite had in fact been chomped down in its prime by some deep sea beast. The string snapped and with nothing else at the end of it he begins to reel in what was left. He tended to loose more kites like that.
"Perhaps yo~ou and I can take a trip into~o the city. If that catches yo~our interest. Tho~ough I'd like to~o get to~o kno~ow yo~ou a bit better."
The smile he directs at Reeius is anything by innocent. Nope, not suggestive at all.
"Yo~ou have a Mo~oirail. Ho~opefully no~ot as difficult as mine."

Your tiny eyebrows lift in mild surprise at Pasler's suggestion. You're slightly flattered, you'll admit, that he wants to get to know you better. If that means just friends or...something else, you don't know. Either way, you're slightly flattered, mainly because you believe you're the most boring troll around. "I havEE nEEvEEr bEEEEn to thEE city," you admit, pushing yourself up to stand. "It would bEE a finEE advEEnturEE to EEmbark on. If not now, thEEn latEEr." You give him a little smirk.
"&, wEEll, my moirail is as difficult as thEEy comEE." You grimace, snuggling down into your hoodie.

"The city is a great place to mingle. But I warn yo~ou it is full o~of lo~ow blo~o~ods, so~o yo~ou must be sure abo~out wanting to~o go~o. The experience can co~ould use so~ome getting used to~o~o."
He didn't want to be liable should Reeius suddenly couldn't handle being surrounded by those he deemed unworthy. His moirail caused enough scenes. And any unnecessary culling would be nice to avoid. Laughing lightly at the mention of shared frustrations with their moirails.
"Ah, I kno~ow the feeling all to~o~o well. So~ometimes yo~ou do~on't kno~ow what to~o do~o with them. But yo~ou can't very well live witho~out them."
Without his kite Palser's attention was focused all on Reeius now. And he found the way his new friend snuggled into his hoodie rather endearing. Taking a few steps closer before planting himself on the sandy shore. Idly brushing off his pants.

"Oh, I assurEE you, I'd havEE a plEEasant timEE EExploring thEE city, & thEE lowbloods will bEE safEE from mEE." You pause a moment, your head tilted to the side, as if thinking over your words. As an after thought, you add, "UnlEEss I am othEErwisEE provokEEd." You could never be too careful, after all. You may not be around others often, but you know of the tension between the blood classes. Some have been know to lead to violence, and if it came to that, you'd obviously defend yourself.
Your smile then softens, though you hide it in the folds of your sweater. "I agrEEEE, though I can't hEElp wondEEring how I got stuck with such a troublEEsomEE moirail." Not that it really bothers you. You wouldn't trade your moirail for anyone else.

Palser seemed content with Reeius's response. If his fellow high blood said he wouldn't cause trouble then he would believe him. Besides, who would really want to stir up trouble with a pair of dashing sea trolls anyway? No one, that's who. Debating whether or not tonight would be a good time to go.
"Well," he chuckled to himself. "If we had Mo~oirails that were much like o~ourselves it wo~ould be to~o easy. I think o~our Mo~oirails need to~o co~ompliment o~our traits. He brightens my mo~o~od and I keep him calm."
Keep him calm and mostly non murderous. Though Palser might be lacking in the latter. Not his fault Zeraki found a new troll to occupy his time with. And he could forgive him for that.
"Tho~ough when I first met my Mo~oirail I tho~ought I was flushed at first sight. It was the mo~ost o~obsurd thing. To~o~o yo~oung to~o tell the difference, I supo~ose."
He wouldn't go into detail about how he first met the blue blood, never got his troll tag, went about stalking every blue troll tag he could randomly find before coming across the right one. Ah good times.

"ThEEy arEE good for us," you affirm, lifting your head from your sweater. Your large bottom fangs snag the fabric, and you release a disgruntled huff before lifting your fingers to free yourself from the onyx threads. You shoot a small glare at Palser, as if daring him to say something, but if he was going to, you stop him, quickly speaking again. "My moirail is a littlEE morEE barnbEEast-hEEadEEd. But EEnough about thEEm," you dismiss the conversation swiftly, not really comfortable enough with your new...friend to get that detailed with your life.
"You mEEntionEEd you wEErEE not from this arEEa. Will you bEE around much longEEr?" If he wasn't, you'd probably have to go explore the city on your own. If you'd even want to go by yourself. You doubt you would.
And not only that, but you find yourself enjoying Palser's company. It's nice to talk to someone who isn't your lusus for a change.

Try as Reeius might Palser didn't overlook the way he caught his fangs on the sweater. Managing not to snicker but his wide grin said it all. He might have said something if Reeius hadn't cut him off. Giving another casual shrug of his shoulders. "Sure." He could see how talking about one's moirail could get boring.
"Well, I had no~o o~other plans to~onight. I was go~oing to stick aro~ound here a bit lo~onger, but having lo~ost o~one o~of my kites already I think I'm do~one. Did yo~ou have anything in mind?"
The night was still young. And a trip to the city would have been a nice change of pace. It had been awhile since he'd been to the bar. Perhaps he'd even run into that green blood again.

"If you arEE quEEstioning my plans for this EEvEEning, thEEN I assurEE you that it is nothing that cannot bEE rEEschEEdulEEd." The only thing you were going to do was go picking around in one of the caves you found on the coast. You've already explored a small portion of it, but you won't be satisfied until you uncovered everything. You mine almost every night, though, so why pass up the chance to do something different? You'd be dumb if you did. You wouldn't mind getting to know Pasler more, and what better way to do that?
"UnlEEss you arEE busy tonight? I supposEE wEE could always rEEschEEdulEE to a latEEr datEE, if that is thEE casEE."

"I'm willing to~o make so~ome time available, fo~or you. So~o then, let us do~o so~omething interesting to~ogether. If yo~ou're fine with that. Bask in o~one ano~others glo~orio~ous radiance a bit mo~ore."
Palser beamed a, one would say flirtatious, smile at Reeius as he pushed himself to his feet. Dusting sand from his hands onto his pants and soon found that was futile. Half tempted to walk over to his fellow sea dweller and offer him a hand up but unsure how his new companion would take the gesture. He'd give it a try anyway. Taking a few careful and cautious steps toward Reeius and holding out a hand if he wasn't stopped.
"I can take yo~ou to~o the city if that's been o~on yo~our mind. O~or anything else fo~or that matter."

You stare at his hand blatantly, still slightly wary if this could be a trap of some sort. You suddenly finding yourself thinking that that's a dumb thought, considering you're all set to go frolic in the city with him. Besides, he hasn't made a move to attack yet, and if he had...wouldn't he have done it by now? Not only that, but you were just speaking of castes, and the fact that both of you are sea dwellers, so why bother strifing?
That still doesn't excuse the fact that he seems to be making some sort of pass at you.
Nonetheless, you're curious, you want to explore, and you take his offered hand.
You're no genius when it comes to quadrants, you think you're a shitty moirail, too, but you like to explore, and isn't romance just another type of adventure? Yet that doesn't mean you'll give your bloodpusher away that easily.
"CEErtainly," you say calmly as Palser pulls you to your feet. "Anything would bEE wondEErful.""

It seems that Palser's not so subtle pass might have been too much. Brushing that off rather easily. Taking a few steps back before heading out into the lapping waves. Looking over his shoulder at Reeius for a moment. His new friend needed to relax a bit more. It was much nicer when things weren't so tense. It could be assured that he wasn't going to make any further advances.
"It's o~only a sho~ort swim fro~om here. Sho~ouldn't be a pro~oblem fo~or us. Wo~onder if yo~ou can keep up with me."
Great thing about knowing another sea dweller, water travel was much faster then waling and it was easier when you didn't have to stop for air. Sinking into the dark waters until he vanished leaving Reeius to follow after him.

It's funny how things play out. You find yourself needing to relax, if only a little, and right when you're about to, your companion throws a challenge into the air, bringing the tension right back, willing or not. In normal circumstances, you would deny such a dare. You're not one for competition, it's too tedious, but this is different. This is another sea dweller and you wonder if he can swim faster than you.
Despite not wanting to get your clothes soaked, you step into the waves, following Pasler beneath the surface. Your gills flare happily, hydrated once more, and gracefully, you let the current sweep you toward the other troll.
Luckily, you know the general area where the city resides (what kind of explorer would you be if you didn't?), so you won't make a fool out of yourself in this little race. You figure if you didn't know the location of the destination, and you managed to get ahead of Palser, you'd seem a fool, lost and unknowing where to go.
You blink at him questionly, silently inquiring if there is a signal to start the "battle".

Ah, maybe Palser should have found out if Reeius knew just where the city was located. It would have made this race a bit more fair in that perspective. But since Reeius didn't make any objections then why bring it up? He was itching for a good race anyway. Loser had to buy the first round of drinks. But he'd bring that up afterward.
Admiring his high blooded partner for a moment longer then was probably necessary Palser gave a quick thumbs up and did a count down with his fingers. His grin stretching fin to fin and as he delivered the zero mark he took off in a quick burst of speed. Cutting through the water easily, vanishing deeper into the dark, inky waters.
Though he would keep his eyes open for any dangers including making sure Reeius was still following. That moment would have been a good time to catch up or possibly get ahead.

As soon as the other hits zero, you take off with a burst of speed, a cloud of bubbles lingering in your wake. You haven't really swam like this, so quickly, in a long time. You're usually the type to take it slow and be aware of your surroundings instead of speeding past them.
Even though the water is pitch black, you can still make Palser out, just a few feet ahead of you. You wouldn't really be surprised if you lost this, racing isn't your strong suit, and, well, you sweater is big, and now it's water-logged. It's slowing you down, though not too badly.
You move your limbs faster, gaining a few inches, when you spot something white out of the corner of your ocular orb. You falter a moment, glaring suspiciously in the general direction, but you turned your head too late. Whatever it was, it sunk deeper into the water below.
You find yourself hoping it's not your lusus. That would be bad.
But the chances of it being something else are kind of slim. The beast seems to have this six sense when he knows you're in the water, and he usually comes around to trail along behind you, probably to make sure you're not harmed. Which is basically a huge joke, considering Eeldad devoured any dangerous creature in the area sweeps ago, and if he didn't, he definitely would later.
You have no idea how he'll react to another troll.
You scowl when you return your attention to the race. Your distraction made you loose more "ground" than you're entirely comfortable with.

At this rate the two would reach the next shoreline in record time. Palser sped past obstacles left and right. His limbs were burning with the effort he was putting into them. His gills fluttering with similar excitement. Where it would have been a good idea to be more cautious in waters he wasn't familiar with he wanted to show off a bit. He rarely got the chance to try out his full aquatic potential. He doesn't even need to look to feel Reeius slowly catching up to him. When the other troll suddenly slows Palser takes the opportunity to gain a better lead.
Darting through schools of fish. Spooking various amounts of sea life as he tried to find the current that would give him that extra edge and give him a straight shot to shore.
And he would have found it if he suddenly wasn't blindsided by a massive white behemoth of a figure. It threw Palser through a loop, catching his bearings a split second later and readied his weapon. Before he could swing the large boomerang it became obvious just what decided to hit him like a crazed freight.
He mouthed the words exasperatedly,'Mantadad.'
The large lusus dipping in and out of the murky depths and back into view effortlessly, showing off a series of bioluminescence. Whatever it was doing was obviously putting a quick damper on Palser's mood. When the troll tried to swim away his lusus caught him by his ankle and attempted to drag him back away from the direction of the beach. Yes, the moment was ruined by semi parental tendering.
This was going to be humiliating.

You gracefully jolt to a near stop when the white behemoth appears, effectively blocking both of your paths. It takes only seconds for you to feel the comforting weight of your pickaxe in your hand, but before you attack, you notice Palser relax, and the lusus, seemingly playful, grab the troll and pull him back. You laugh, a flurry of bubbles escaping your mouth and gills, the sound garbled by the water. You return your weapon and consider taking this opportunity to get the lead, but you're wary of the creature.
You turn your head down, peering into the darkness below, before deciding it would be best to leave the ocean as soon as possible. You'd rather not summon your lusus with your presence under the waves.
You shoot Palser a smirk as you speed past him, inwardly laughing at the other's predicament as you hurry toward the beach.

He continued to fight and struggle with his overly affectionate lusus. Not even sure how the giant manta ray even found him to begin with. Palser kicked and flailed and couldn't help but be flustered by the way Reeius openly laughed at him. This was humiliating! Ugh. He didn't care what the beast was trying to tell him he was much more concerned with finishing this race! Managing to wiggle free from the massive maw of his grabby lusus, Palser made a break for it. Trying hard to make up for lost time. Of course Mantadad was trailing close behind with low, bellowing calls as if that would convince his charge to turn around. The waters beginning to grow more shallow, the beach just up ahead. Quickly gaining lost ground but with the sandy bank rising up fast beneath them there was no way he was going to make But he had tooo try! His feet touching the sandy shore and stumbling onto land. Shaking off the water from his shirt and cape. In that last stretch he hadn't seen if he or Reeius had touched land first.

"Your lusus sEEEEms to bEE a handful," you muse, watching Palser fumble onto land with a triumphant grin on your face. Due to his lusus, you won the race. You doubt you would have otherwise. "I thought you wEErEE not from around hEErEE. Did you lusus folllw you?" It hardly needed to be asked since the answer was obvious.
The sand clings to your feet and, absently, you beginning squeezing the water from your hoodie. You only brought one spare, and that one is already drenched from the swim from your hive.
You hear Pasler's lusus cry out, and you see it's broad, white back breach the surface before disappearing under the waves.

The look Palser shot toward Reeius was a less then amused one. Letting out a bothersome sigh and roll of his eyes. Wringing out the water from his cape in an attempt to dry it out. He, unlike Reeius, didn't have a spare. Even if it was soaked too. Fumbling to remove his shirt and wringing it out as well.
"I assure yo~ou I am true to~o my wo~ord. My hive is no~owhere near here. My lusus just has a hard time accepting my absence. He if can be flaky so~ometimes so~o can I."
Slipping his shirt back on and reattaching his half sized cape.
"I swear, he do~oes like to~o sho~ow up at the mo~ost ino~oppo~ortune time. But he means well..."
Palser looked back out at the ocean, watching his lusus bob in and out of sight before finally vanishing. He could feel bad about brushing Mantadad off like that later. Turning back to Reeius with a less sheepish smile. Motioning up the slight slope.
"I o~owe yo~ou a drink. Being the winner and all. The city sho~ould be a sho~ort walk fro~om here. Ho~opefully o~our clo~othes will dry o~out befo~ore then."

You turn away when he removes his shirt, instead busying yourself with looking in the distance. You can see the lights of the buildings flickering brightly, blocking out all of the nearby stars. "HopEEfully your lusus doEEs not EEcountEEr minEE. HEE is not vEEry mEErciful whEEn othEErs invadEE his tEErritory." You turn back to face him, wringing more water out of your sleeve. You shorts stick uncomfortably to your legs, though you ignore it, pleased that your hoodie covers you until it ends just above your knees.
One of your tiny eyebrows raise, then, and you echo, "I was not awarEE wEE wEErEE going to purchasEE anything. I am in no nEEEEd of any victory prizEE, if that is what you'rEE offEEring." "Huh, so~o yo~our lusus is nearby? Perhaps that was what mine was trying to~o warn me o~of."
A worrisome scowl crossed Palser's face. The mention of impending danger for his lusus was something he wasn't going to take lightly. But he could trust Mantadad to seek safety now that he was on shore. Casting one last longing look into the ocean before leading them up the sandy bank and onto more sure footed ground. Sure enough the sand giving way to actual dirt and grass. He gave a one shoulder shrug at the mention of the races outcome. Not feeling as bad about it as he could.
"Hey, I intended fo~or us to have a drink to~ogether, and whether yo~ou wo~on o~or I so~omeo~one was go~oing to buy the first ro~ound. Turns o~out it will be me. Indulge me, wo~ont yo~ou?"
Batting his eyes at Reeius and attempting a pout but failed and ended with just a grin and chuckle.
"Besides, it wo~ould be a crime no~ot to~o hit the bar and enjo~oy a sho~ot."
